Annotated Bibliography
Reynolds, Trench. "Trench Reynolds' Crime News". March 10 2010. http://crimene.ws/crimenews/2007/3/12/confessions-of-a-former-west-memphis-3-supporter.html.
Trench Reynolds blogs for a living and this particular blog is specifically about the West Memphis Three and focuses on Damien Echols. He is a firm believer that all three men are guilty and that there is a lot of evidence the general public has not heard about. In my blog, I focused on the boy’s innocence so viewing the opposing side was refreshing and gave me a different perspective to think about while I was writing my posts.
Free West Memphis 3". Arkansas Take Action. March 08 2010. http://freewestmemphis3.org/index.php.
Free West Memphis 3 is one of the main websites geared towards Damien, Jessie and Jason’s freedom. It has case updates, background on the boys murdered and the three convicted, a case synopsis, legal briefs, etc. All of the information on this site is updated and was very helpful in every post I wrote. The information given is organized and easy to find as well as very in-depth. The site highlights all aspects of the trail as well as the boy’s current situations.
Perrusquia, Marc. "The Commercial Appeal". March 09 2010 http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2007/nov/27/rebuilding-his-image/.
Marc Perrusquia discusses Mark Byers and how he was a suspect among the media for many years and was scrutinized for his role in the documentary Paradise Lost. He then transitions to Mark Byers in recent years and how he is working with the police to find the real murderers. The article discusses conversations between Byers and Terry Hobbs, which was exactly what I needed for my third blog. The article doesn’t point fingers; it lays out the facts, which was what I needed for the third post.
David Icke. Com". March 07 2010 http://www.davidicke.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13204.
This is another blog post that discussed Terry Hobbs and the DNA found on the crime scene. They focus on Pam Hobbs, Terry’s ex-wife and her new attitude towards the case as well as her view towards the recent findings on her ex-husband who is now a potential suspect in the case. I was able to use a lot of information from this blog for my third post, as it had a lot to do with Terry Hobbs and his role in the crime.
Hill, Martin. "Jivepuppi.com". March 08 2010 http://www.jivepuppi.com/Terry_Hobbs.html.
This article carries a lot of information about Terry Wayne Hobbs. It has information on his whereabouts on the day of the murder as well as the DNA evidence. It discusses Pam and Terry’s relationship as well as Mark and Terry’s. This just provided me with more information on Terry Hobbs. This site was very helpful in laying out Hobbs’ alibi and how it held up through out the trial.
Day, Greg. "Untying The Knot". March 07 2010 http://www.johnmarkbyers.com/.
Untying The Knot was a site devoted to John Mark Byers and his history as well as his current life in Arkansas. The site talks about the accusations of him being involved with the murders and how the media is slowly drifting away from those original accusations. The site looks at Byers in a positive light, which many of the West Memphis Three sites do not. I used this for my third post and it came in very helpful when I searched for positive information on Mark Byers.
Ebert, Roger. "RogerEbert.com". March 09 2010 http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20000313/REVIEWS/3130301/1023.
Roger Ebert is a film critic that analyzed the documentary Paradise Lost. The documentary is where much of the attention from the public came from and why to a large degree so many find the three innocent. Ebert discusses the documentary and how strongly they pushed the boy’s innocence and Mark Byers guilt. I originally found out about the case from this documentary, so going back to see what critics have said about it after knowing more about the case gave me a fresh perspective on what to take from the documentary and what to question.
"Free The West Memphis Three Support Fund". March 5 2010 http://wm3.org/.
This site is most likely the most popular site among West Memphis Three supporters. The site covers everything involved with the case. It discusses overviews, detailed synopsis’, a blog within the site, detailed descriptions about each boy convicted along with videos from each behind bars, it has updates surrounding the case and a support fund aimed towards freeing all three. This site had information about every post that I wrote. It was comprehensive and very useful in finding facts pre trial, trial and post trial.
Hill, Martin D. "The Case For Innocence, Jason Baldwin." Jivepuppi. Web. 4 May 2010.
I have used this site before, but when I revised my blog entries and added more information, I used Jason Baldwins page specifically. The site has information on Baldwin during the case and what the used during the trial in detail against him. It also says the pro's and con's of Jason Baldwin's trial. This site gives in depth information on the trial, which proved to be very helpful when writing my blog.
Hill, Martin D. "The Case Of Innocence- Jessie Misskelly, Jr." Jivepuppi. Web. 4 May 2010.
This site was really helpful with all three of the boys convicted. The site offers a page for each of the boys and it gives more information on the background of the trial than any other site i've found. It gives details about the confession as well as later information found through out the trial that didn't match up. I'm really glad I found this site because I used this a lot for later on in my project.
